Wash the reds with Nuln Oil to darken the robes down more than an Agrax or Carroburg Crimson wash would do. We want some deep rich colors to set off the pale white. However most of the time we do OSL we’re doing a colored light source against a model that’s generally in regular lighting (white light). In those cases, only the part lit by the source will be tinted, and the rest will appear lit normally by whatever other source. The skin was then re-painted with Rakarth Flesh (ignore the crevices), try to focus on the forehead, eyelids, nose, ridges above and around the lips and cheekbones.

The only colour we haven’t used yet is Ulthuan Grey, let’s rectify that. Repeat the last step but ONLY apply it to the light source and maybe on the tiniest part of the shiniest surfaces (shoulder pad and the very centre of the edges of the gun metal bits). Don’t over do this bit, the more you use, the LESS light the glow will look. And similarly, when I did my Abaddon the Despoiler I used yellow hues on the cape and base from the flame. For those I used Flash Gitz Yellow and Iyanden Yellow for the blending. Coat D'Arms match the OLD citadel colours (pre-1992) so there might be some difference. Shining gold has the most noticeable difference, Probably the best known science fiction or fantasy image is the lightsaber. Lightsaber duels were the coolest parts of Star Wars, and the only redeeming part of the prequel trilogy, and energy swords of some kind or another are common across many different kinds of sci fi. Warhammer 40k shares this heritage, but eschews the “elegant weapon for a more civilized age” for hefty swords and axes that look like they’re ripped straight out of a Victorian romantic’s conception of the Middle Ages. That said, many of those are also magic swords and axes (not to mention hammers and great big fists) powered by energy fields, fitting right into this longstanding tradition. White Scar– A white paint that can be used as a highlight color on Baharroth Blue armor, it creates an analogous color combo that gives a clean and crisp look.I painted the whole saber with fluorescent blue, and gave the side closest to his face a couple of extra layers. Then I oriented the model so that I was looking straight on at Obi-Wan’s chest, and gave the saber an edge highlight only on that side. Take a painted Space Marine or suitable candidate for glowy eyes. If you haven’t done an edge highlight under and around the eyes you’ll need to do it at this stage so that the Contrast paint can tint it. For green paint the lenses moot green or something bright. Step 1 And a Branchwych done the same way but with some pure white added over the Aethermatic for a more blue-white effect: The color scheme denotes him as a Blood Angel, but his skin is pale and his hair is no longer blonde. Lest step. Now I’m gonna do some very small edge highlights with my lightest color, which in this case is Reaper Ghost White, but in GW terms would be Ulthuan Grey. This is a light blue offwhite that gives me some extra shininess and really hammers home the effect.

I recommend you paint the first to keep yourself motivated. You can re-attach the face once you’ve painted the top area of the model. Pendulin’s Shadowkeepers scheme can be found in a separate article – How to Paint Everything: Adeptus Custodes Shadowkeepers. For this I’m going ot paint this as though there’s a light source coming in from his left side, right about hip level. That means light’s gonna go up and down from there, and a bit across his chest and waist. Step 1: Drybrushing http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/media/e588d28183cec31ffd6dcee6d3718fc3.cms/equivalencias-rev05.pdf Right Hand: Mephiston’s right hand (the one without the gun) may require some bending or manipulation during assembly to ensure it lines up closer to his mouth. Try playing with it before gluing in place permanently. The wings were further highlighted with Ulthuan Grey (leave some of the previous highlight showing at the base of each feather). In our How to Paint Everything series we look at how to paint, well, everything, with a look at different styles and approaches from different artists. In this article we’re looking at how to paint both power weapons and enchanted weapons, and create the kind of sweet glow effects that define these. Using pure white, edge highlight the blade, and the inner cleft of the blade, as well as the power nodes http://www.wargamesfoundry.com - also do a range of similar to Citadel paints, will update when can get chance. The rest of the models in the above image have been painted in Death Guard Green, Wyldwood Contrast, Runefang Steel, Skeleton Horde and Darkoath Flesh. I’ve got a step by step of the complete process in the pipeline. Next up, I painted the weapons I wanted to be “Power Weapons” in Aethermatic Blue (the Bows and the Long Swords)
