Note: All miniature models come unassembled and unpainted on sprues, so if this is your first foray into hobby wargaming you'll also need hobby snippers, glue, paints, and other miniature modeling tools. Box Contents for Warhammer Echoes of Doom (excluding miniatures). Image: Games Workshop What's Included In The Warhammer Echoes of Doom Book? Grand Nightlord’s Agitator: Regardless of the mark, Snikch always finds a way to get close. Regardless of the Nightlord’s motives, the Deathmaster always sees his master's will done. Death Runners - Death Runners are the elite among the ranks of Night and Gutter Runners, having excelled at the mysterious Far Eastern fighting styles for which Gutter Runners are known and demonstrated enough wherewithal and self-determination to lead. Because of their ability to bend and contort their pliable bodies with a speed and dexterity unachievable by man, Death Runners have no need for encumbering armour - they simply dodge the blows and missile of their foes. [5] Sylvaneth Miniatures: 1x Lady of the Vines, 5x Gossamid Archers, 3x Kurnoth Hunters, 1x Spirit of Durthu The Skaven Deathmaster is an expert hero-killer armed with an arsenal of esoteric weapons coated in lethal toxins devised by the Clans Eshin, and more than a match for most targets.

However, we’ll have to see what the rest of the rules in the new book change and if that makes this better or worse. The only strange thing is that it can only join Clanrats or Stormvermin and no Night Runners.

GW Unveils Tons of New AoS Sylvaneth Models!

We’ve got a full week right here on Warhammer Community too – starting with a look at all of your favourite shows on Warhammer TV. This article or this section of the article contains information regarding the Storm of Chaos campaign and its aftermath, which is now considered a non-canon, alternate timeline. Of course, with so many new models, they are also grabbing a new battletome book for Age of Sigmar 3.0! New AoS Skaven Deathmaster! The time spent exploring the lands of Nippon, Ind, and Cathay had served Eshin well, for the clan had gained significant training in the arts of stealth and assassination. The assassins of Clan Eshin are rightly feared by all Skaven. They come silently, dispense death with uncanny accuracy, and return to their warrens with their foes none the wiser. Their methods are seemingly supernatural, and the shadows appear to cling to them like spiderwebs. [1a] At 170 points I think he’s probably just a bit too expensive. He might gel better in the new book though, Games Workshop articulated in the recent preview they see Skaven as a high risk, high reward army so the wide damage range might fit in just fine. It’s also going to depend on how subfaction affinity is going to work in the upcoming book. Clanrats

If you're looking to start either a Sylvaneth or a Skaven army, this box is a no-brainer. It's also extremely valuable for those looking to round out either force, as the models included in here aren't just throwaways (okay, the Clanrats are technically, in terms of lore, throwaways, but they're supposed to be, that's how they're treated by their own Skaven comrades). If you're not interested in either of these two armies, then there are other box sets (like Arena of Shades, which we recently covered) which may better hold your interest. Squeaking of Skaven, we can also reveal the next battletome for Grand Alliance Chaos – the children of the Horned Rat will be emerging into a realm near you very soon! So whatTheir bows do a flat 2 damage now instead of d3. While it averages out to the same, consistency is key and knowing you’ll do a bunch of damage 2 shots tends to be be easier to estimate over utterly random damage rolls. In short you’re trying to edge it as close to death as possible before pulling the emergency ripcord to get a free Verminlord in, very interesting mechanic, with a 5+ Ward it’s very possible your opponent can do sufficient damage to it but not bring it down, allowing you to hit the emergency button. Genuinely better than hoping for a 1 in 36 roll. It’s not entirely clear at this point how the priest thing works, since at the list building phase it counts as a Wizard you don’t get to memorize any spells, and the 2 generic prayers – Smite and Bless – aren’t very good and probably aren’t worth using over any spells you’d have access to. It’s possible the upcoming book will give some answers.

Affordable unconditional Battleline and a decent screen. Never expect much from Clanrats and you will never be disappointed by them. 4. Grey Seer on Screaming Bell This is a bigger mix of old and new units than expected, but you still get three new units in the box. Two for Sylvaneth and one for Skaven. It does make sense, though, as if there were just new units for the Sylvaneth, the box wouldn’t make a ton of sense for players trying to get into the faction. The clan has simply worked its way into the good graces of the Lords of Decay and continues to serve the council unquestioningly. Whether this obedience will continue is a question that future generations must answer, but for the time being, Clan Eshin is virtually untouchable. [1a] Service to the Council [ ] This thing has vibes of its old version but functions wildly different from before. It’s been a fairly popular inclusion up to this point as a solid two-spell caster with some decent (but random) buffs for free in the form of its Peal of Doom. It now only casts one spell, but the buffs have been shuffled around substantially. The +1 to casting bonus or rolling a 7 is now built into the model itself at all times. The downside is it only grants it to itself, the upside is it scales, and at full health it grants +2 to casting to itself. Additionally, you can make it a Priest for the turn instead, if that suits you, and get +1 to chanting at full health. When compared with the rules above, everything matches up pretty well! So while this is rumored, it’s looking pretty good. The only real thing this adds is the stats and running death, where it can run and still shoot.

Whether you keep it all for yourself or split it with a friend, Echoes of Doom is a great way to start a new Sylvaneth or Skaven army – or to add to an existing one. Honestly everything here is… pretty good. This is an interesting box because both armies are considered near the bottom of the tier list and few debate that they needed the update. The battletome will likely be necessary to see how it all comes together but everything here is either an upgrade or at least an interesting side grade. If this box is a sign of things to come I think players will be very happy. Unsurprisingly, Snikch is an amazing assassin unit. His damage scales based on how much health an enemy has lost, meaning he should never take a straight 1v1, but steal in for the kill when an enemy has been weakened. Whirl of Weeping Blades is a decent crowd clearing ability that helps prevent him from being pinned down by infantry. Deathmaster Sigil is a short snare that can allow him to catch a target or run away from a dangerous one. There is just so much to love about this new set. The value here is going to be massive, with both armies getting a huge influx of models in exactly the way each army needs them. For the Sylvaneth, having a new hero, a new set of archers, the Kurnoth Hunters and a Spirit of Durthu (a huge, hulking tree monster) gives the heft and fighting power you need to round out a force of fighting vegetation. For the Skaven, along with the new Deathmaster and the massive Grey Seer on Screaming Bell, you also just get a TON of rats. What I love about this box most of all is the pairing of these two armies. I've always thought that Skaven and Sylvaneth would make wonderful mortal enemies, and seeing them pitted against each other in these fun, inventive Battleplans is a real treat. All in all, I can't recommend Warhammer Echoes of Doom highly enough for anyone interested in either army. The Lady of Vines in all her painted glory. Image: Games Workshop Should I Buy Warhammer Echoes of Doom? As for those buffs I mentioned, the table is very different now. Instead of 2d6, you just roll 1d6. This means that all buffs are equally possible to roll but it also means…they’re all equally possible to roll. Definitely leaning in more on the Skaven’s randomness. The buffs include:Deathmaster Snikch - Snikch is the chosen instrument of Nightlord Sneek, an infamous ratman with a reputation for grisly murders. No one can ever really tell where Snikch is at any given time, heightening the terror surrounding him.
