Versatility: Lanolin-based greases can be used on various metal surfaces, making them versatile for protecting different parts of a vehicle. They can be applied to areas prone to rust, such as undercarriages, chassis, wheel wells, hinges, and exposed metal components. Additionally, lanolin-based greases can be used in combination with other rust protection measures, such as coatings or films, to provide additional layers of defense against corrosion.

Water and Moisture Repellent: One of the key advantages of lanolin-based grease is its ability to repel water and moisture. It forms a hydrophobic barrier on the metal surface, preventing water from reaching the metal and causing rust. This is particularly important for vehicles that are regularly exposed to rain, snow, or wet conditions. We believed that there had to be a better way and, working with leading UK chemists, we have developed a product with a 100% sustainable base of oil from a widely sown crop. So unlike the other products, LanoShield is 100% sustainable and derived from renewable resources. I always thought it was easly washed off as never relly noticed it protecting anything even though reapplied every 8 to 9 months. All areas on my car got worse. How does it last long term, I will find out. However, if you believe that you can treat the underside of a vehicle once and expect it to last years, then you're mistaken. I've restored plenty of classics that had been Waxoyl'd and the were rotten due to poor maintenance.

Our research identified products from the USA and also Australia and New Zealand. However, these products all combined the lanolin with a base of naphtha which is a refined petroleum product. Given that the lanolin is naturally occurring, we wanted the final product to be 100% sustainable and from renewable resources and so existing products did not meet our requirement. I power hose it and wire brush it first but if its heavily scaled I think the waxoyl doesn't penetrate into it. In June 2020 I discovered alot of surface rust on the subframes of the car. Using other brands I would underseal over the top of hammerite I hoped it would preserve the car. I found the lasted 3 to 9 months just meaning I needed completely do the car again. It's 12 years old, and as expected, it already had areas of surface rust in places so I started by jet washing the whole underneath as best I could at our local industrial pressure washer on a day when the roads were dry. Jet wash resistant to 3000 psi or 200 bar (won't be displaced and will keep protecting after cleaning)A little LanoShield goes a long way so we recommend using a small brush to coat all nuts and bolts, winch, etc. For the best finish simply wipe of any excess with a rag. Leaving any excess on will obviously not harm your trailer so wiping of any excess is matter of choice and not a requirement! Cars LanoShield is also available in larger volumes suitable for commercial use in 5Ltr, 20Ltr and 50Ltr sizes https://lnkd.in/eBwuy6Af #boatlife #epropulsion #epropulsion #epropulsionelectricoutboardmotors #epropulsionelectricoutboards #electricoutboard #electricoutboardmotor #marine #marineequipment #epropulsionspirit #epropulsionnavy #ecofriendly #sailing #boating #fishing #electricpropulsion #electricboat #hydrogeneration #sustainability #lanoshield #anticorrosion #antiseize #boatshow I use Bilt Hamber aerosols for in-cavities as it creeps really well into seams and you don't need to clean the spray gun. For larger areas like bulk heads either use our spray or simply a larger brush but as you only need a thin coating spread thinly. Please note that if you prefer a thinner grease i.e. more like a gloss paint consistency LanoShield can be heated up by placing the jar in a microwave for 30 seconds on full power Fishing equipment

The lanoguard looks easy to apply with no washing guns etc and you don't have to do it all at once and easy to touch up but its twice the price of waxoyl.Self-Healing Properties: Lanolin-based greases have self-healing properties, which means that if the protective layer gets scratched or damaged, the grease can flow and fill in the gaps, resealing the surface and maintaining its protective function. This helps to ensure continuous protection against rust, even if there are minor abrasions or scratches on the metal surface. Something like a diff cover for example and you can't start chapping with a screwdriver or in around subframe were you cant get tools in properly. Overall, using a lanolin-based grease for rust protection provides effective and long-lasting corrosion resistance, water repellency, and self-healing properties. It helps to prolong the lifespan of vehicles and maintain their appearance by preventing rust and corrosion damage to the metal surfaces.

Did my 850 with Lanoguard last April and it is still fine, they recommend once a year application but as the 850 is not an every day car and kept garaged I will be doing every two or maybe even three years. The grease is used to cover the threads of bolts etc. that are exposed to the elements underneath the car, I can imaging the joy of repairing a 15 year old car that has been Lanoguard treated and everything unbolts without breaking or stripping threads. How long did the smell linger for? I have heard it is a pretty potent organic smell alikened to the Giraffe house at London Zoo when first applied. The bung in the top of the container needs to be pushed in securely (soon to be replaced with a screw top) to avoid spillage. Parked it up on ramps in the garage so I had access to the underneath and spent time with rags and the airline drying and cleaning off the underside.

I have been considering using Lanoguard as it doesn't cover up any existing rust as conventional underseal does and it doesn't compromise the original finish applied by Volvo. If heating LanoShield please be aware that it can get very hot so precautions should be taken. Though the product is non-hazardous it can be hard to get off so we recommend using protective gloves
