The poet writing for the theatre may, as I have found, make two mistakes: that of assigning to a personage lines of poetry not suitable to be spoken by that personage, and that of assigning lines which, however suitable to the personage, yet fail to forward the action of the play. There are, in some of the minor Elizabethan dramatists, passages of magnificent poetry which are in both respects out of place — fine enough to preserve the play for ever as literature, but yet so inappropriate as to prevent the play from being a dramatic masterpiece. The best known instances occur in Marlowe’s Tamburlaine.

Poe is not the narrator of these lines. Although readers can find hallmarks of his style, the speaker is entirely invented. He’s a character used to convey the consequences of guilt and the results of madness. The Sun Also Rises is one of Ernest Hemingway’s most commonly-read novels. In it, readers can find examples of his characteristic prose. His writing is well-loved for its short sentences, economical use of language, and direct tone. He does not use flowery language or overindulge in descriptions. This is a result, scholars believe, of his training as a journalist. Consider these lines from the novel: Remember choosing a point of view determines how close the reader is involved in the poem. Third-person point of view will create more distance. The reader will be an observer. Whereas, first-person point of view will draw the reader into the poem. Second-person point of view is occasionally used in poetry. The speaker is speaking directly to his/her readers. Using second-person point of view, however, has to be done carefully as it is a more advanced skill and can be done poorly by an inexperienced writer. Alliteration is also used, as seen through the repetition of the 'b' sound in the line 'The showers beat on broken blinds.' Like sibilance, alliteration is used to create a rhythm. But unlike the 's' sound, the 'b' sound creates a plosive stop similar to the beat of a drum. This creates a harsher rhythm which is used to imitate the sound of rain. Through the use of both sibilance and alliteration to create rhythm, the poetic voice remains steady and consistent. This could also imply the constant flow of the speaker's thoughts as he takes the reader on a journey and describes the world around him using his senses.A narrator is the person telling the story. In literature, the voice is not the narrator himself, but rather every narrator has a voice. Mood As I used to tell my kids, I love them both equally. I am really excited about all the featured poets who will be reading at our VOP events. Come hear them. Each is worth hearing. I’ll be honest with you. I know the challenges are there, and that they’re profound, but for me personally, I never really thought about publishing in that traditional way, because I was coming up in the slam world, which arguably grew from a community of writers that felt a little bit uninspired or maligned by the traditional publishing world. That route wasn’t something I was aiming for, so I never had to come up against the prejudices that lie within it. The first line and last line of the first stanza is repeated throughout the poem (this is known as refrain). The rhyming pattern of the Villanelle can be written as:

We do not have a single venue for our VOP events. When I formed VOP, some well-meaning friends suggested that we confine our events to one or a handful of venues. As you can see, I declined to follow that advice since our goal was and remains to bring good contemporary poetry to people, and vice versa. In selecting a venue for our VOP events – and I am always looking for new venues – I look for essentially four things: 1) their willingness to host literary events (which rules out Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park); 2) good acoustics and receptive audiences (which rules out noisy bars or restaurants); 3) whether they’re amenable to helping promote the event; and 4) whether there are good poets willing to read at that venue. I write at my old wooden table, where I also keep poems in progress and bills to be paid. I think my muse enjoys a bit of clutter. I love the process of going through my old work and making sudden discoveries. If I’m not having a fruitful day, I’ll simply read one of my favourite poets or put on some music or go shopping. The Provincetown Arts Society offers “A Closer Look at Salvatore Del Deo” at the Mary Heaton Vorse House, 466 Commercial St., Provincetown, through Sunday, March 13. I don’t think I’m biased but in all honesty the poet John Agard, whose poetry is often imbued with a subversive humorous spin. which characters and a plot will emerge, and I can make a plainprose outline ofthe play in advance - however much that outline

I’m a spoken word poet and a voice over artist with over 13 accents. I started it all for fun for me but I saw the extent spoken word poetry could go, how much it people could connect to it, from issues on mental health to the state of Nigeria, life in general, people could connect with my videos, with my art, my soul." One of the kookiest voices in literature comes from Dr. Seuss, known for his unruly rhyme patterns, made up words and overall silly voice. In his beloved classic The Cat in the Hat, Doctor Seuss tells his story with three voices—the children, the fish, and the Cat in the Hat. Here are two stanzas, one showing the fish’s voice, one showing the Cat’s: However, several of our Voices of Poetry events have been benefits for various causes and organizations, including the ACLU, Loaves and Fishes (the food pantry and soup kitchen in New Milford, CT), Lower Cape Outreach Council, and a fund for Stop and Shop employees during their strike. Each greeting has the same basic meaning but is expressed in a completely different voice. Several factors contribute to each voice—for example, some are formal while some are informal; some show an accent; some use slang; and some even use different languages. An example of a type of poem that follows a strict structure is the 'Villanelle'. This type of poem consists of nineteen lines, which is separated into:
