Description

You have a digital control panel that lets you set your exact temperature between 225 – 700°F. The control panel connects to an app for remote control. The digital control panel includes room for up to four meat probes. As touched on before, there are three models in the gravity-fed series: The 560, the 800, and 1050. They share the same build quality, main way of working, electronics, and more, but there are some differences. The hopper can hold enough charcoal for 12-15 hours of cooking depending on temperature and conditions. As we’ve come to expect in modern times, the controller offers both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for pairing with your smartphone. A proprietary app allows you to monitor and control your cook session. There’s a lot of stuff in the app I don’t care for, like recipes and shopping lists, but the controls for the cooker are simple enough to navigate. Durability and Craftsmanship: Crafted with high-quality materials and superior craftsmanship, the Gravity Series 560 is built to last, ensuring years of exceptional grilling performance.

Join me from the first slice of the box cutter to the final clean-up and, hopefully, a forkful of delicious food as I put the Masterbuilt Gravity Series 1050 Charcoal Smoker and Grill through its paces. Let’s see if it rises to the occasion or sinks like a stone. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as pulling the rubber seal and sliding it around the door frame. Cooking on the Gravity 560 One very minor inconvenience is that the lid to the hopper opens toward the grill, so if the grill lid is up, the hopper lid cannot fully open. I’m not sure there’s necessarily a scenario where one would need to have both open at the same time, but it does seem slightly odd that it was designed this way. Masterbuilt 560 Price: One of the biggest bugbears of charcoal grills and smokers, in general, is that you must learn fire control. You typically need to know how to light a good charcoal fire, what size to make it, and how to control airflow via vents to hit and then stay at a stable cooking temperature. Not so with this unit.To set a temperature, you simply tap the temperature icon, turn the dial and tap the same icon again. The same goes for the timer which can be used as a stopwatch or a timer, with all info being ported in real-time to the accompanying Masterbuilt app. You can use this grill with up to four wired meat probes – it ships with one – that slip through a hole in the side of the grill chassis. Each probe can be preset with its own destination temperature at which point an alarm will sound on the unit and on the app. Now, I don’t remember much from science class. But, I do know that one of the fundamental rules of physics is “what goes up must come down.” In case you were wondering here are some pork ribs I cooked. They turned out real nice and juicy. Testing the Gravity 560

Masterbuilt is now owned by a US investment firm, along with Kamado Joe and Smoke Hollow. Their products continue to be made in the United States. We absolutely consider Masterbuilt to be a reputable and reliable manufacturer. We might note here: While we appreciate and admire the novel design, it’s not necessary to understand how or why it works. Because if you follow the instructions, it will work—as we learned. Firing It Up Baking and roasting isn’t out of the question either, and with the cooking temperature being controlled by a digital control panel, the sky’s the limit. Temperature Range: The Masterbuilt Gravity 560 is a great blend of convenience and function at a price that’s hard to ignore. There aren’t many grills that we can compare this to without moving into professional models designed for the competition circuit, and we love that there’s a gravity feed grill available for the rest of us.Masterbuilt Gravity Series BBQs combine the traditional smoky flavor of charcoal grilling with the ease and precision of a gas grill. They feature a unique gravity fed hopper system that automatically dispenses charcoal as needed, ensuring consistent heat and exceptional flavor. Let's explore the key features and benefits of each model: For low and slow smoking, fuel consumption is ‘not bad.’ With a hopper full of medium to large chunks of lumpwood charcoal (perhaps 10 lbs?) I achieve about 9 hours of smoking. This is way under what can be achieved with a Weber Smoky Mountain, or a Kamado Joe Big Joe. It also means refilling the hopper partway through long cooks of butts or briskets.

In short the ‘Gravity Series’ is charcoal BBQing made simple. It’s as convenient as a gas BBQ, it’s as controllable as a gas BBQ, it’s as efficient as a gas BBQ and it’s as clean as a gas BBQ… but it has all the flavour, fun and personality that only charcoal brings to the outdoor cooking experience.Simply turn the dial to maximum, and the digital onboard fan will ensure you get searing temperatures in the cook chamber. It will go as far as pushing flames into the cooking chamber. But it’s not just hot in one area like a pellet cooker would be; we are talking searing across the whole surface, even temperatures all over every time!
