Description

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together. Scottish and Irish fiction is littered with stereotypic, 'wee Ned' characters, shoved in front of the readers or viewers to be sneered at from middle-class living rooms. The visiting ones will spend the day judging how the hosts do things while passing wee comments about dry turkey and how your dad likes a drink, eh? Up the road, the pair of ye. THE STRESSED PARENT

It’s my hope that a character you hated in the first chapter can grow into a hero by the final act and vice versa."Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special. Thank you for loving (and despising) my troubled wee Malva. What a journey. Love love love to you all thank you @Outlander_STARZ."

I think the main theme is that of nature versus nurture. The characters are presented as products of their environment. I don’t think it’s a judgemental book; it simply shows you how these kids and adults react to certain situations. I’ve become a big fan over a fairly short space of time and would recommend this highly in the hope that it helps to gets the book the audience it deserves. But Reynolds swapped the fantasy Scottish highlands for the mid-90's Ireland as she took on a completely different look for 'Wee Deirdre'. Ah, the true awkward hell of two sets of parents in the one hoose (2021 note: assuming they're following the three household bubble rules!) What follows is a story of family and gang loyalties, of broken children and broken adults, all set in the streets of West Belfast. But West Belfast is no mere setting in this book. Such is the strength of Brennan's writing, he is able to breathe life into the very streets. West Belfast becomes a character in its own right. And that, my friends, is the sign of a great writer. The unsung hero of Christmas, they’ve been working themselves into the ground to give their weans the best Christmas possible, but it all comes to a boiling point at some point on the day. It might be over the dinner, it might be the fact that some overpriced gadget didn’t come with batteries or that the Fortnite server is down and wee Jordan is having a meltdown, but maw’s gonna erupt if you don’t keep her in wine. Just try and keep your heid doon. There’s no doubt that this is a crime book given the mischief that goes on and Brennan never shirks the darkness or the brutality.
