Description

Soon afterwards, various bizarre incidents unfold in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby; a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck; and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the ‘Master’ and his imminent arrival. This classic tale of horror is told through the diaries, letters and journals of the protagonists: the young solicitor Jonathan Harker, his fiancee, her friend Lucy Westenra and Dr Seward, the superintendent of a large lunatic asylum near Purfleet in Essex. The book is an excellent edition of the Bram Stoker classic, although I won't be reading it (I have another edition) but all looks OK. Christopher Lee is one of the world's most iconic horror and fantasy actors - coming to prominence with the 1957 film `The Curse of Frankenstein' in which he played Frankenstein's monster.Sobre a história, nem tem como não elogiar o quão interessante é ler Drácula, não só por ser a figura base do que entendemos por vampiros hoje em dia, como também as outras leituras que vamos fazendo de elementos da época.

The strangest figures we saw were the Slovaks, who were more barbarian than the rest, with their big cow-boy hats, great baggy dirty-white trousers, white linen shirts, and enormous heavy leather belts, nearly a foot wide, all studded over with brass nails. When Jonathan Harker is summoned to Transylvania to finalize a property deal for the mysterious Count Dracula, he stumbles upon an ancient evil he is unprepared to face. Although a published author of the novels Dracula, The Lady of the Shroud, and The Lair of the White Worm, and his work as part of the literary staff of The London Daily Telegraph, Stoker made his living as the personal assistant of actor Henry Irving and the business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London.

The Dracula / Horror of Dracula 1958 Hardback Edition is the premium format of this stunning title, and comes signed by both authors with a certificate of authenticity! Bram Stoker has written an excellent book, and if you’ve had enough of modern day vampires, do go back and give this one a try (or retry!

A mysterious Count resides in a Transylvania castle, and it's Jonathan Harker's duty to help him find a residence in London.

It introduced the character of Count Dracula and established many conventions of subsequent vampire fantasy. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. I would include Salem’s Lot in that list, but I already read it last year during my Dark Tower journey.
