She has a way of making me just enjoy following her characters around as they go about their lives. I feel like not as much happened in these four books as have in her previous trilogies. Yet I don't mind. Finally, the other segment of things is the fleet: just as an army is gathering, the royal fleet is gathering. Most of it is in Dragonstone and its vassal isles, but a large segment is now at King’s Landing, with ships being overhauled and refitted, sailors and oarsmen being recruited, etc. Some substantial portion of the total military force will be travelling on those ships, although the king’s plans for the role of the fleet is not yet generally clear. Most bet they’ll try the same gambit, trying to seize the Planky Town and then as much of the Greenblood as possible to prevent forces in the west of Dorne from easily crossing over to the east. Some in the crowd were terrified (rightfully, others would later say) at being so close to the deadly alchemical substance, but the king proudly asserted that this dragon was named “Balerion” and would be joined by six more just like it as a way to guarantee victory against Dorne. Fymryn confronts Selemene and, instead of killing her, she brings her to visit Filomena's tomb: Selemene then regains her powers and flees the tower.I hated what happened to Selden. We got quite a few chapters from him in this book and all of them were difficult to read. He went through so much. While traveling to Slyrak's cavern, Davion, Empress Mirana and Marci encountered Hellbear, a creature under the influence of the Stones, and a tree under the control of the Direstone. After destroying both, and unconvinced by Mirana's explanation, Davion leaves Empress Mirana and the alternate version of the mute Marci. Highly recommended for anyone who loved reading love triangle relationship. The question is: who does? Walach challenged the knights to single combat. Fighting them all with peerless skill and unnatural vigour and strength, he slew the mortal Knights of Sigmar with ease, for he was a vampire who had learned his craft in ancient days from the great and fabled Abhorash, first of the Blood Dragons. Though none of the knights could hope to defeat the undead monster, Walach spared those who fought bravely and with honour, passing to them his curse of vampirism and corrupting them utterly while slaying the others and feasting on their blood. [2a] I can highly recommend this series to lovers of character driven fantasy though I would also highly recommend first reading Hobb's Liveship Traders trilogy at the very least - and even better, why not get the full experience of this world and start with her Farseer Trilogy.
