Funny thing, this does not mean the Skink has to be close to the enemies cause both beasts have only one single weapon profile and both are ranged. Seraphon army rules are all contained in their third edition battletome. The first choice you have to make when selecting a Seraphon army is if they are either Coalesced or Starborne and is the most important one as it will force you in a certain direction. Basically you are looking at two different armies.

These missions range from ambushing a particular chaos warlord that would otherwise become too powerful, to free an unsuspected prisoner that will end up creating his own legend while fighting Chaos. Whatever it is, Seraphon have a prime interest in thwarting their prime enemy, the forces of Chaos. The Starseer can fly 4″, while the others can move 6″ but have access to the Skink common ability Nimble Retreat, that for a Double allows a bonus disengage. Really useful to run away from enemies getting too close for you to be comfortable. If you are familiar with modern infantry kits from Games Workshop, you might know what to expect here. The ten different bodies have fixed poses. Also, each pair of arms only fits a specific body. The hands and shields are designed to fit specific arms as well, but with a bit of try-and-error and minimum gap filling you should be able to mix and match them as well. Only the heads are freely interchangeable. Overall, you’re probably opting for upgrades to your frogs, though there’s enough power in the other artefacts here that you might choose one of these over say the realm artefacts. Overall the changes to the book are intriguing. Seraphon were an army with a bunch of “it just works” abilities, a complex machine that opponent’s had few ways of disrupting and could do meaningful destruction at every phase of the game.A couple of boxes of these serve a great core to a Cities of Sigmar force, and brave converters can take the extra Warden King and convert it into a Runelord for some anti caster potency and buff potential. You’ll be able to get your first taste of the new Seraphon with an army set, which contains a Slaan Starmaster, 10 Saurus Warriors, five Raptadon Chargers and five Raptadon Hunters – though you could build two units of either variety! Michael O: I knew I had to build the Warspawned version because the Seraphon army I’m working on is my 11 year old son’s army. He is definitely all-in on the WARSPAWNED versus just regular ole’ Kroxigor. I don’t want to go too far into dad-mode here but it was pretty funny the first weekend after we bought the new Battletome – he had read it and claimed that ‘all my stuff got better rend, all of it!’.

Kixi-Taka has the same identical profile of a Skink Starpriest but without access to his ability. In exchange he can buff all friendly fighters within 9″ increasing by 1 both Move and Toughness. And he costs much less. One of the few old sculpts to survive the purge, it is very funny to see them sitting next to their new big brothers. Now no longer the ‘elite’ melee combatants of the foot Saurus world, with regular Warriors catching the same combat profile, Guard come with a baseline 3+ save and the Selfless Protectors rule allowing them to catch incoming wounds and mortal wounds on a 3+ for non-monster Seraphon heroes. At 130 for 5 these are really spendy for what they are, but the catch is: they’re the only unit that does this job. If you’re playing Starborne your gameplan probably revolves around keeping a Slann alive. These keep your Slann alive, and therefore have a role. Skinks This guy is…weird? Sadly he lost a lot of his utility – though he did make up for it in other ways. He doesn’t grant you 3D6″ charge anymore (which would be really nice with all the new cavalry that just came out), nor does he grant extra CP. He does however have 2 spell casts per turn, which makes him a nice support piece. Scry the Stars lets you roll a number of dice equal to the battle round and for each 2+ grant a 5+ ward. It’s got unlimited range, but you will probably drop this round 2 or 3 since that’s where most games get decided. Finally he has a nice niche warscroll spell, Celestial Doom which shuts off Wards to a unit within 12″. Not always useful but if you go up against an army with Wards you will be so happy he’s here. Skink Starpriest Though armed with gleaming weaponry, Saurus tend to find their jaws are just as deadly an armament.
