Description
I'm not doing a new build at all, but my 10 year old case is resonating the hell outta the HDDs with no fix in sight (tried EVERYTHING, foregone conclusion.
Designed from the ground up, the Define R6 goes beyond iteration with a profound stride of innovation – a sizeable step forward from preceding models of the world-renowned Define Series. Other than the full glass side panel, the case is absolutely a Fractal design (a Fractal Design design? The top panel consists of an outer panel with a noice dampening layer attached (screw-less) to a removable fan filter. Create a fantastic cooling system with the nine fan mounts and PWM hub, along with support for radiators up to 420mm.Expanding on the design that brought so much success to its predecessors, the Define R6 offers a solid foundation, flexible framework and limitless potential. There’s not much that can be done about this, aside from focusing more airflow toward the bottom of a chassis. I have them connected to the fan controller on the case, and the PWM cable on the fan controller plugged into the mobo 4pin. After having had an "Antec three hundred two" which did the job well, and switching to this "FRACTAL DESIGN DEFINE R6 BLACK" is not a problem; quite the contrary. More hair would actually get picked up by the front fans, and pulled into the front filter, as I had to clean that a lot more often than the bottom filter.
The case comes with three 140mm Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP14 fans, designed to provide superlative airflow with minimal noise. The net is very coarse, and it is a single layer, like the ones on house windows to keep out mosquitoes.
I keep spare copies of both of Baret's pools off-site and rotate them with Baret on a regular basis. Did another test by adding 2 top intake fans - assumption is they would blow air down towards the GPU section. I knew I had full copies of all of my data on Dorothy and Dorothy was completely unaffected; a huge benefit of having a separate, dedicated backup server. It might have to do with the define R6's filter, as it is very close to the fans, like 1-2mm distance. The solid front bezel doesn't impede airflow either due to sides, top, and bottom being well-vented for intake.
The PSU sucks up air from the bottom of the case, which means not enough air - similar to problem A; and it sucks up dust. Designed from the ground up, the Define R6 goes beyond iteration with a profound stride of innovation the latest and largest step in the legacy of the world-renowned Define Series. My bottom mount position is a tangled mess of PSU power lines:X Gonna tidy them up and try that next.Expanding on the timeless elegant form and silent modular function, that brought so much success to its predecessors, the Define R6 offers the demanding hardware enthusiast a solid foundation and flexible framework with limitless potential. If you can dream it, you can build it – the focus on modularity and possibilities offered by an open case layout means you're only limited by your imagination. Nexus Smart Hub offers superior fan control of six additional case fans and three extra PWM devices via your motherboard.
