In a last ditch effort at parental responsibility, we find out that her parents have dumped Tiernan off on her step-uncle, Jake, a mountain man who builds dirt bikes and lives off the land, swinging his cock around like an axe as he pees on everything he owns to mark his territory. that was like 200 pages too long, we could’ve gotten the whole point of the book in way less time without all of tiernan’s talking about nothing and going on a car ride and feeding the horses and making breakfast etc etc we don’t care. To say I’d been dyyying to get my hands on the audiobook and re-read this since January would be an understatement. Credence by Penelope Douglas ventures into the tumultuous world of forbidden wish and complicated relationships. and if you’re gonna “need” somebody like that, the least you can do is pick people better than them 💀.

I've tried to be as vague as possible as don't want to spoil but yeah good job on a distinctly different story but definitely check your triggers before reading. I love the idea of living in a secluded area near the wilderness, and this book captures that ambiance perfectly. On the surface, she's a privileged woman, but underneath, she's a struggling, disconnected, broken, mess.Girl spends winter hopping from one of their beds to the other, before 'falling in love' with the one who's a psycho. The different types of relationship in this book are so blurrily intertwined that I wasn’t sure what these characters meant to each other. Pen puts all of them in a house, cuts them off from the world and covers them under a huge, thick tarp of snow, till the warring passions illuminate it up from within.

There may have been one consensual encounter between the two but the rest can be classified as near rape or rape. It’s definitely not for everyone but if you’re “okay” with reading taboo romances I think PD would be the author to check out (or so I’ve heard). One of it is in Kaleb’s POV, and I think reading it helps you get to know him more and shows you the side of him the book couldn’t but you’ve always wanted to see.

After years of hearing nothing but great things about Penelope Douglas' brand of steamy romances, I finally icked up one.
