From Vikernes theories to enlist followers by attracting women (who would then attract more male followers) to his court room shenanigans to how did all of these nutjobs find each other anyway to all of the racist shit and violence. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. This exhaustive, near-academic look at metal’s satanic underground simultaneously traces the Devil’s ascent through rock history and provide cultural antecedents for music-related violence and paganism. They seem to present their point of views as the black metalers themselves see things, so that it has the appearance of a supportive bias but rather it's bringing to light an unpopular view of how to live and act. The 2003 edition of LORDS OF CHAOS is revised and expanded, adding fifty new pages, detailing outbreaks of Black Metal crime in Finland, Germany and the United States; and includes the secret history of occult Rock, a new section on Varg Vikernes' promulgation of bizarre Aryan UFO theories, and material on the career of Hendrik Mobus, an international neo-Nazi fugitive.

Whereas gangsta rappers might cite ancient African traditions that have been violently uprooted as a cause for their crimes against society, Norwegian black metal-heads cite the slaughter of their pagan traditions at the hands of early Christians as their justification. Excepto por las ultimas cincuenta paginas donde el relato revisa lo que sucedía en aquellos momentos en otros países del mundo, principalmente europeos, y presenta ciertas relaciones políticas del black metal con la derecha radical. There is one stretch of Varg Vikernes interviews that seems endless, in which Vikernes goes on a long-winded aryan nationalist rant. Gangsta Rap's white-kid counterpart, black metal music enjoys a continued obscurity that is baffling in light of the made-for-tabloid events detailed in Moynihans's and Soderlind's book.

In 1992, Moynihan edited and published a collection of writings by ex-National Socialist Mansonite James N. Vikernes has also become a prominent figure in Norwegian Nationalism, a far-right ideology with ties to white-supremacist and Nazi movements across Europe. I wouldn't discourage any reader from checking this out for the pure cheese fest that were those promotional photos. Now, I would not be surprised if Varg has claimed that he has been misrepresented, or misquoted, or what have you, but my observations on Varg over the years has led me to believe that he just plain talks too much and digs his own grave 90% of the time.He is involved in a long standing collaborative and romantic relationship with musician Annabel Lee, with whom he has fathered a child.

I really enjoyed reading perspectives from Ihsahn and Ulver, and some of the outside sources were interesting as well.Ultimately, it ends abruptly, feeling as though perhaps 25% of the book was spent recounting events that happened.

I grew out of it, realizing there are PLENTY of awesome people with beliefs similar to mine and I can largely ignore the exclusive conservative sects, or oppose them in the proper political channels. Mayhem intended to live out their Satanic image to the hilt, proving to all that they were no mere posers.I was brought up close to this world and learned alot from reading all the interesting interviews and richly detailed text throughout the book. When its not merely content to shock and awe us with its truly blood-curling depictions of hair-raising mutilations, murders, and church burnings, the books ruminates this way and that from meditations on the connection between Satanism and Heathenism, all the way to UFOS.
