This is a very inexpensive part, and in all likelihood, it won't go on your machine within a few years of use. Going back to my personal experience with this machine so far, the only negative thing I can mention is something beyond Sage's control, and something you'll find on other recently manufactured home espresso machines, which is the 15-minute auto-off due to this EC directive. So you can extract your shot at the right temperature, delivering optimal flavour, while simultaneously steaming your milk to cafe quality. the Dual Boiler uses digital temperature control (PID) technology which detects and minimises any fluctuation during extraction, ensuring the temperature is kept at its optimum range, every time. The steam wand is on a 360-degree ball joint, so it’s a pleasure to use, and it comes standard with a nicely balanced three-hole steam tip.

This fine control over the temperature also allows for varied extraction results, allowing you to experiment with different levels to achieve different flavours and variations. Sage has combined striking design and the best technology available to create the 'Dual Boiler' traditional coffee machine. I think it's a brilliant machine regardless of your home barista skill, being just as good a choice for seasoned home baristas as for folk who are yet to pull their first shot. Please note: Stoneware, glass and electrical items can only be delivered to UK addresses (including UK Offshore). So you can extract your shot at the right temperature, delivering optimal flavour, while simultaneously steaming your milk. The steam wand is the professional caliber, and it’s double-walled so that the outside doesn’t get hot enough to burn you.

The pair grew up together, copied each others work at school, and spent most of their teenage years trying to out-skill each other on their skateboards. As the industry is so fast-moving, we aim to keep our content fresh, updating our articles at least twice a year. This is why it's so important to refresh the filter often enough depending on your water hardness, and to keep on top of descaling, or better still if you're in a hard water area don't use tap water. br>
Espresso perfection requires precision temperature and pressure control, consistently, every time, and the Sage Dual Boiler™ espresso coffee machine will deliver just that. OK, that's not really my nutshell review ;-), but it is my overall opinion – as long as you're looking for a home barista espresso machine, not bean to cup. A lever operates the steam wand on the side of the machine, a system you’ll see on many top espresso makers like the La Marzocco GS3 or Slayer.

You can fit a PID to a Gaggia Classic or Rancilio Silvia, for example, but having a PID alone doesn't give you the temperature stability or accuracy that this combination of technology and engineering inside the Dual Boiler provides. These machines are made by Breville Worldwide, and they would be known as Breville here in the UK, except for the fact that they sold the brand name in Europe in the 80s.

To complement our own first hand experience, we draw from reputable sources within the industry, including coffee communities such as the coffee and espresso SubReddits, and a number of specialty coffee forums and private groups. The default setting of 7s should work with most beans although you can up this by a few seconds if you want a bit more flavour to come through. Trying to convince my wife (who doesn't drink coffee) when I'd just started the blog, that I needed to spend over a grand on an espresso machine, would have gone down like a brass blimp! As well as being able to set the preinfusion time via the LCD (by pressing and holding the up and down arrows) within a huge range of zero to 90 seconds, you can also set the preinfusion power, and you can also determine the preinfusion manually by pressing and holding the “manual” button.

What they ended up with was not just something unique to domestic espresso machines, but something I think which is fairly unique even to commercial machines, and the long and short of it is that you end up with ridiculous temperature stability at a much lower cost than would usually be required to achieve that. This meticulous process ensures that the information you receive from Home Grounds is not only engaging and useful but also trustworthy and reliable. OK this doesn't always work, at times I get caught up with something and the machine turns itself on and then back off again in 15 minutes, but the worst-case scenario is I need to wait about 6 minutes to make a coffee, not a big deal. The fact you can just push the front of the top of the machine and the flap slowly opens up, for you to fill the tank from the top – or if you prefer, you can just remove the tank from the back, again just little things like this make this machine so user friendly. Thanks Graham, yeah Lance is great, I watched his video, I probably watched and read just about everything on the Dual Boiler in the run-up to writing this review ;-). That’s why we have partnered with the Smartcare scheme to provide additional warranty protection and give you extra peace of mind for your home appliances. You don’t have enough space: If you’re short on counter space, consider the remarkably affordable Sage Bambino Plus. com is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Pay4Later Limited, trading as Deko, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 728646). In another blog your wrote that 15 bar pressure is not an advantage for making great espresso and is usually found in cheaper machines and the 9 bar is found on the more high end espressomachines.
