Cabot empowers women to reawaken their "magical nature through the feminine to heal, protect, create, and empower" by presenting a series of Celtic goddess short stories and lessons accompanied by her own thoughts and feelings. Not only that, but mysterious events around the town are causing panic in the secret magical community and cowans – non-magical folk – are starting to take notice.

Rae Beth also manages to explain the key gods and goddess and how they fit into the spirituality of a Hedge Witch in a way that does not preach nor expects one to follow, merely to understand. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). Despite this, I believe this book teaches some valuable lessons and should absolutely be on the bookshelf of any Wiccan. This book is great for a beginner, intermediate, and advanced witches interested in shamanic journeying or hedge riding (they are both very similar). Hedge witch is the path I've chosen, and I'm just wondering if anyone out there knows some good resources for learning the herbal side? The author extols the feminine principles of healing and regeneration as well as attacking greed and self-interest which jeopardize the planet’s very future. The second half of the book was slightly redeeming, discussing trance work (albeit from a heavily Wiccan angle). Joanna van der Hoeven wrote one of my favorite books on druidism and hedgecraft a couple years ago titled The Book of Hedge Druidry: A Complete Guide for the Solitary Seeker which is included on my hedgecraft resources list.

With this book, witches learn all they need to know to make home a magickal place to live, work, and play. It might even be ideal to read up a bit more about Wicca before getting into this one as some information is inaccurate. While the Internet is a great thing and blogs like mine are becoming an increasingly valuable resource, there is a lot of misinformation floating around. It is a beginner book, which doesn't go too deeply into any particular subject, but touches on the wheel of the year, ritual, and deity.

Patheos Pagan, like Pagan Bloggers, is a blog database with content from a variety of pagans around the world. This book has worked for many and while I think that's great, I would be careful if you are interested in this book. What are some of your favorite books for connecting with nature and following your own spiritual path? I’ve heard it said that there’s not a great deal of practical difference between a solitary Druid and a Hedgewitch. Rae Beth provides spells for all the key festivals of the witch’s calendar; describes and outlines the Pagan approach to finding a partner. Thomas has a straightforward writing style which I prefer when reading a novella but other readers may find it too simplistic. It is easy to read, delightfully engaging, and full of useful information for both beginner and advanced witches. I believe this has been clarified in later editions but needs to be kept in mind when reading this particular edition. Somehow the book's feel, look and aroma bring me back to my 80s childhood and reading the "magical" books of Enid Blyton. This is exactly what you the reader will do when you take her book, Hedge Witchcraft into your heart. Skye does a great job introducing the craft and will inspire even the oldest witches to get out there are cast a spell or two!
