I felt this topic could have played a bigger part with more detail but the "electricity" in the title actually referred to Charlotte's psyche as she branches into work as a medium.

This book, which as a medical doctor I found hard to put down, explores the relationship between electricity and life from beginning to end: from the early eighteenth century to today, and from the point of view of the physician, the physicist, and the average person in the street.For a good high level overview of the grid, along with other civil engineering topics, Grady Hillhouse's "Engineering in Plain Sight" is good. Arthur Firstenberg is a scientist and journalist who is at the forefront of a global movement to tear down the taboo surrounding this subject. If you are like I was and you are relatively clueless and ignorant about electricity then this is a highly recommended and concise read that will help you and inform you.
