Ah, there you are,” he said, stopping by the window seat. “I’ve been searching high and low for you.” Felix sighed and put the present down on the seat between them. “My dear thing, I wish it were that simple. But I don’t make the rules at the Polar Bear Explorers’ Club.” He nudged the present along the seat toward her. “Let’s not let it ruin your birthday. Why don’t you open your present?” Wayne: The Polar Bear Explorers' Club is wonderful and full of exciting journeys, yetis, unicorns and fairies - but are they nice? As well as battling grumpy trolls, they become split up from the other explorers. Will Stella, Shay, Beanie and Ethan be reunited with their group?

Look out — this mythical beast may be fluffy, but he’s as tall as a giant and could crush you in a single step of his ginormous feet! Kieran: This is not my favourite book but it's in my top ten. It is funny every step of the way; you can't stop! Join junior explorers, Stella, Beanie, Shay and Ethan. It's all good at first but then they attempt to cross the bridge - Will they survive? It took me a little while to get into this story, but once the expedition began I really warmed to it. It is non-stop action and adventure and is simply teeming with imagination. The main section of the novel reminded me very much of the Indiana Jones films, with lots of fantasy creatures popping up unexpectedly, collapsing bridges, subterranean caves and tunnels and a myriad mythological beasts and creatures. I’d take you in a heartbeat,” Felix said quietly. “If girls were allowed on expeditions, then you know I would take you.”

Stella didn’t want to argue with Felix anymore, though, so she gave him a kiss good night, scrambled over Gruff, and returned to her room. She set the igloo by the side of her bed, got changed, and then climbed under the sheets, where she stared up at the slowly revolving mobile that hung from the ceiling. She knew she was too old for mobiles now, but Felix had made this one for her when she was very small to make her feel more at home, and Stella loved it. She soon finds herself on an expedition to find the coldest part of the Icelands. But it doesn’t go to plan, as she and her fellow junior adventurers get separated from the group and have to find their way across the Icelands together. While the Icelands is full of incredible places and creatures to discover, it’s equally full of danger.Get ready to travel to the iciest of mountains and to set sail across faraway seas with this fun, adventurous and absolutely spellbinding series about great feats, each book reading as a standalone story with its own set of unique and courageous characters. And when Felix and his expedition attempted to be the first explorers to reach the coldest part of the Icelands, Stella wanted to be there with them. She just needed to think of a way to get Felix to let her come. This is a magical and charming adventure with memorable characters: Shay the wolf-whisperer, Ethan the grumpy magician, and Beanie, a genius half-elf. It is suggested that Beanie is on the autistic spectrum, although this is not explicitly stated.

Not one to learn from past experience, Alex started the Legal Practice Course in London. There she met some great people and had a lot of fun messing about during lessons that were clearly meant to be extremely solemn affairs. Thankfully, she dropped out just before the point where all students must submit to the personality-removing process that is a compulsory part of being an esteemed member of the legal profession. Lacey-May: Alex Bell is a very intriguing author. The book includes the characters Stella Starflake Pearl, Shay, Ethan and Beanie. As well as this book, I also loved 'The Boy in the Tower' and 'Letters from the Lighthouse'

Felix wasn’t particularly handsome or distinguished, and he didn’t sport a mustache, whiskers, or sideburns, as was the current fashion. This was in large part because those things required quite a significant time commitment in terms of grooming and maintenance, and Felix said he had (so far) counted up a total of 134 more interesting ways that he would rather spend his time, including making numbered lists of interesting ways he would rather spend his time. His nose was bent at the top, and Stella loved the way his eyes crinkled at the corners. His golden-brown hair was usually just a little bit too long, curling around his collar—and his mouth always wanted to smile. Felix didn’t like frowning. He said it was a waste of good muscle use. It took all of Stella’s discipline to say, “I don’t want it.” She turned her head to stare out the window.Brodie-Leigh: This book is full of cliff-hangers which make you want to read on. If you like books like 'Alice in Wonderland' you are sure to love this: the magic element draws you in and the adventure has you on the edge of your seat. This is a story full of friendship and love. I would definitely read read this again but the question still remains: will they return? The injustice of it made her whole body tremble. Stella had grown up listening to Felix’s stories whenever he returned home from an expedition, and had always loved them, but there comes a time when a girl gets tired of hearing about other people’s adventures and wants to start having a few of her own. Felix had always said that some rules were okay to break and, in fact, some should be broken regularly for one’s health. When Aunt Agatha said that Stella needed a woman in the house to bring her up properly, Felix was always on Stella’s side about stuff like being allowed to gallop around the grounds on her unicorn, or build a fort out of books in the library, or learn how to make balloon animals rather than sew ugly embroidery.
