Description

As the name implies, the power output is different between each unit. The VL300 is the most powerful of the three units offering 300W power output, the VL200 is next with a power output of 200W and the VL150 is last on the list with 150W power output. With the difference in power output also comes a difference between the brightness of all three units. When measured at 1m, the VL150 offers the lowest brightness of 61,000 LUX, the VL200 follows with a brightness of 75,000 LUX and the VL300 is the brightest of the three lights with a brightness of 77,000 LUX. The VLII Series all use the ever-popular Bowens S-Type accessory mount, which makes it compatible with a wide range of modifiers such as Softboxes, Fresnel Lenses, spotlight attachments, snoots diffuser-balls plus much more. Godox VL150 is lighter than the Aputure LS C120D II. VL150 weighs 1.79kg (3.95 lb) whereas Aputure LS C120D II weighs 2.2kg (4.85 lb). Both models also feature a cooling fan with very less or no noise. This is very helpful while recording videos as a silent fan will not deteriorate the audio quality. Specifications | Aputure LS C120D II vs Godox VL150 Feature For the Godox VL Series, there are currently three different lighting units to choose between. Firstly, we have the Godox VL150 LED Light, followed by the Godox VL200 LED Light and finally the Godox VL300 LED Light. The VL150II has been updated, giving you access to 2.4GHz wireless control, enabling it to be controlled remotely using the Godox RC-A6 Wireless remote (Available separately). The VLII series also features Bluetooth connectivity, enabling you to control all your lights via the Godox Light Smartphone App, which is available for free on the iOS App Store, and the Google Play Store on Android.

Both models are rated for 150W, and for the same power supply (AC100~240V 50/60Hz) so that they can be used all around without the risk of circuit breakdown. If you are a traveler you don’t need to worry about finding the right power supply if you going in and out of a country. In addition, both Godox VL150 & SL150W II features the universal Bowens accessory mount that open for numerous modifiers and other accessories. You can add a softbox or a fresnel, or any other light modifier to control your light. Godox VL150’s V-Mount battery plate in the control panel lets you use a battery to power the light if you have to shoot outdoor or places where you might be worried about a dedicated power supply. However, keep in mind that V-Mount batteries are expensive and you might want to give in some extra money to use that feature. For less than the cost of the UL 150 you could buy an SL200 II which is very quiet at full power and even quieter when you reduce the power. Review here . The VL150II can output a lot of power, whilst maintaining a lightweight and compact body. They feature a separate control panel, which not only makes the light itself smaller and lighter. It also enables you to easily control the light without a remote, even when the light is mounted high up. The GODOX VL150II is everything you loved about the original VL150 plus more. It is 165W 5600K Daylight-balanced Monolight-Styled continuous LED Studio Light, using the latest High-Intensity Integrated COB LED technology. It now features 2.4GHz Wireless connectivity, making it compatible with the RC-A6 remote (sold separately). It also features Bluetooth connectivity, enabling it to be controlled via the Godox Light Smartphone App, which is available for free on both the iOS App store and the Google Play Store. The VL150II has a high CRI of ≥ 96 and a TLCI of ≥96, making it suitable for professional broadcast use, cinematography, video interviews, YouTube videos, and live streaming. It is also suitable for stills photography, including portraits and products etc. Tremendous Light Output.

h Godox really need to produce fresnels (and a projection attachment) which are optimised for their lights. This is the big gap between them and Aputure and NanLite. Dimming functionality in LEDs come in extremely handy. This saves a lot of time as it eliminates the need to change the lighting to control the brightness that suits a scene. Aputure LS C120D II features non-linear dimming from 100% to 1% in <10% fine adjustments. The Godox VL150 provides better control over the lighting by providing a linear control. It is dimmable down to 0% from full brightness. Interestingly, he did say Nanlite fresnel worked better with the Godox than it did with Nanlite's own LED light. To deal with the added power output and brightness, the weight of the units also differs. The VL300 is the heaviest of the three lights at 2.64KG, with the VL200 offering a weight of 2.23KG and finally the VL150 offering the lowest weight of 1.79KG. However, even with the added weight of the lights, they all do still offer the same dimensions. Godox SL150 II and FV150 are similar in price, build quality, noise level, and lighting characteristics. FV150 has the option of LED "flash" but inferior to a dedicated strobe. Is this feature worth having? I already have a small speedlite (TT350S) that is rarely used. What are the benefits of getting the SL150 II?

When away from the unit itself, there is a dedicated remote control for each unit as well as Bluetooth compatibility to work alongside the Godox smartphone app. The VLII Series now features a selection of built-in lighting FX presents, making it easy to emulate certain lighting situations, to help bring your films to life. These lighting effects include Storms, Flashes, TV, Broken Bulbs, etc. Shoot at Virtually Any Framerate. All three lighting units can be powered either using the included mains power cable or using a V-Mount battery (Sold Separately) with the built-in V-Mount battery plates for use on both studio and location shoots. The entire VL series lighting units come with Bowens S-Type mount as standard to allow these to be used with a selection of different light modifiers to offer ample light control. The LED chips used are the latest in High-Intensity Integrated LED technology, making these lighting units suitable for a selection of different Videography fields such as professional broadcast use, cinematography, and video interviews. Each of the lights offers a High CRI (Colour-Rendering Index) rating of ≥96 and a TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) of ≥95 to make sure the colours in your subject are captured professionally and clearly. Godox VL150 will suit you best if you are looking to shoot outdoor and carry around equipment frequently and it is much lighter than SL150W II. The later one is specifically for studios and does not come with support for an external battery, that’s the reason it’s priced lower than SL150W II.HIGH COLOUR ACCURACY: The VL150 offers an advanced CRI (colour rendition Index) with a CRI rating of 96 and TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) rating of 95. The stepless dimming power ranges from 0% - 100%. The output quality is perfect for film making and professional broadcasting.
